Important Advice

There are usually no doctors on campus.

Therefore if you are living in a new city you need to be registered with a doctor there.

If you do not register it is very difficult to get an appointment in an emergency. Therefore you may have to go to A & E.

NOTE: You cannot be registered with two doctors at one time, therefore if you need to see a doctor while back at home you will have to be treated as a temporary resident.

As a student you are entitled to free prescriptions as long as you are under 19 years. After this age you must complete a HC1 form (obtainable from doctors, dentists etc..). This will determine whether or not you qualify for free prescriptions.

If you are ill and unable to attend lectures, you may be asked to show a sick note. These can be obtained from Health Centres on campus (3 day note). If you are ill for over 7 days you usually have to contact your GP.
