The most popular areas for student accommodation in Oxford are the Cowley Road and Jericho area, typically Jericho is the more expensive of the two.
North Oxford (Jericho, Summertown): close to the city centre Jericho is generally convenient for getting to College. There are many good pubs, restaurants, cafes and takeaways meaning you don't have to make the trip into town to get a bite to eat.
Close to Jericho, Summertown has a wide variety of shops including M&S, Co-op and Somerfield. Unlike Jericho, the bus service is excellent and there are several quality restaurants, bars and pubs, however - Summertown is far from the city centre and the entertainment isn't nearly as good as its close neighbour.
East Oxford (Cowley Road, Iffley Road, and Headington): Close to Zodiac club, University gym, and UPP cinema Cowley is one of the liveliest areas of Oxford. There is a mix of boutique shops, restaurants and curry houses and the bus routes are extremely convenient for University. Iffley road is slightly quieter in comparison and it houses numerous college annexes.
Popular with the students from Oxford Brookes is the Headington area of Oxford. It is home to a number of lively bars and eateries and the Brookes campus itself. The bus service is pretty good and the rental prices are typically cheaper than other popular areas.
West Oxford (Botley Road): this area has most of the local shops that you would need, including local newsagents a laundrette a few takeaways and a post office. The railway station and George Street are not far away.
South Oxford (Abingdon Road): regarded as one of the lesser popular areas for students in the city, Abingdon Road is provides student accommodation to students looking for a quiet atmosphere.
